About me

About me

This Is Amy DoesArt. Experiments. Experiences.I’m Amy, a multidisciplinary artist based in Scotland.I’ve always been fascinated by what you can do with the simplest things. I rarely look at something and see just one possibility. One tiny mark makes me wonder what thousands of them would look like. A handful of beads turns into 10,000. Give me 150 colour cards and I’ll want to find 150 different things to do with them.I love colour, patterns, repetition and working with different materials. I don’t always have a finished piece in mind when I start. Quite often, it’s the material itself that interests me, and the ideas develop as I experiment.I’m also really interested in people and the psychology behind art. Why do we consider certain things art? What makes something valuable? How much does the way something is presented influence what we think of it? I love the idea of making work that gets people involved, thinking, questioning and talking. This Is Amy Does is where I bring all of that together. The things I make, the ideas I explore and the experiences I’d like to create.
